RICHARD “RICK” ABBOTT

HAMMONDSPORT-Richard “Rick” Abbott, 61 of the Reservoir Road, Hammondsport, passed away Tuesday afternoon (July 28, 2015) at the Taylar Health Center in Bath, after a short illness.
Born in Romulus on May 6, 1954, he was a son of the late James E. Abbott, Jr. and Agnes L. Skinkel Abbott. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his stepfather, Glenn Chrysler, Sr.; his brother, William “Bill” Abbott and his stepsister, Jessie Ingram.
Employed as a security guard at the Taylor Winery in Hammondsport, Rick devoted most of his time caring for his mother and stepfather. He also enjoyed tinkering on old cars.
His family includes his brother, James “Jimbo” (Teresa) Abbott III of Avoca; his stepbrother, Glenn (Jean) Chrysler, Jr. of Campbell; also his many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The Avoca Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Richard “Rick” Abbott.
Calling hours are 12-2 p.m. Sunday at the Avoca Funeral Home, 22 N. Main St., Avoca, where a funeral service will be held in his memory following calling hours at 2 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. Samuel Stetter officiating. Private interment will be in Valley View Cemetery, Avoca at the convenience of the family.
