RICHARD H. WALLACE
NORTH HORNELL-Richard H. Wallace, 72, of 24 Marick Park Drive, formerly of Greenwood, entered into rest early Tuesday morning (Feb. 19, 2008) at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pa.
Born in Greenwood on Nov. 9, 1935, he was the son of the late Linford and Virginia McCormick Wallace. On May 20, 1961 he married his wife Barbara at St. Joachim’s Church in Canisteo. She predeceased him on April 16, 2007 after nearly 46 years of marriage.
A graduate of Greenwood High School, Rich resided in Greenwood before moving to North Hornell in 1999.
While residing in Greenwood he was employed there by Agway for 25 years and also owned and operated his own farm. Presently he was employed by Stephens Auto Supply in Hornell.
Rich was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Rexville. He also served as a volunteer for the Greenwood Fire Department.
His family includes his son, Mark (Carla) Wallace of Greenwood; his daughter, Laurie (Jeff) Wright of Ontario; his three grandchildren, Ashley and Brandon Wallace and Simon Wright; also several aunts and cousins.
Calling hours are from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell. Friends are invited to meet his family at St. Mary’s Church in Rexville where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday. Committal prayers and interment will follow at St. Mary’s Churchyard Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in his memory to the Greenwood Fire Sept. in care of Mason Burdick, 1574 Andover St., Greenwood, NY 14839. Envelopes for memorial contributions will be available at the funeral home.
