PHYLLIS B. PETERSON

ALMOND-Phyllis B. Peterson, 85, of Whitney Valley Heights, passed away, with her loving family at her side, late Thursday afternoon (Feb. 3, 2010) at St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell, where she had been a patient for the past week.
Born in Hornell on Sept. 10, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Vera Burd Peterson. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her brother, William Peterson
A former resident of Canisteo, Hornell, Lyons and Saugerties, Phyllis has resided in Almond since 1990.
She was a graduate of Hornell High School, class of 1945 and at the age of 60 she graduated from Alfred State College in 1986 and received an associate’s degree in Human Services.
Phyllis was employed by the Green Thumb Program as an area supervisor before her retirement
A member of the First Baptist Church in Hornell, she was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren
Her family includes her three sons, Michael (Frances ) Zdanowski of South Pittsburgh, Tenn., Gregory (Anne) Zdanowski of Delevan and Joseph (Diane) Zdanowski of Tulsa, Okl.; her two daughters, Rita (Terry) Lines of Milford, N.H. and Joni (Timothy) Conley of Constantia, N.Y.; her 11 grandchildren; three step grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Richard Peterson; her sister-in-law, Jean Peterson of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; her dear friend, Timothy Coleman of Almond; also her nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours are from 11 a.m.- 1p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Hornell where a funeral service will take place in her memory following calling hours at 1 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Jerry Springston officiating. A committal service and interment will be held in the spring at Rural Cemetery, Hornell
