HORNELL-Patricia A. Kilbourne, 92, of East Avenue, passed away early Sunday morning (Dec. 5, 2021) at Highland Hospital in Rochester.

Born in Hornell on April 19, 1929, she was a daughter of the late William and Winifred (Norton) Barney. She was married in 1952 to Richard Kilbourne, who predeceased her on Nov. 23, 1983 after 31 years of marriage. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her infant daughter, Christine Marie Kilbourne; and three sisters, Wilma Heald of Silver Creek, NY, Shirley Hartwell of Appomattox, VA and Beverly Recktenwald of Canisteo, NY.

A life-long resident of Hornell, Pat resided on Rose Avenue for many years and most recently resided at Riverbend Apartments on East Avenue. She was a graduate of Hornell High School, class of 1948 and was a member of the Hornell High School Alumni Association. She was employed as a switchboard operator for the former New York Telephone Company in Hornell from 1948 to 1953.

Pat will be remembered most of all for being a devoted Mom to her children. Her family meant more to her than anything else in the world.

Her loving family includes her four children, Nancy (Tom) Forsyth of Caledonia, NY, Patricia Walchli of Buffalo, NY, Timothy (Barbara) Kilbourne of Colorado Springs, CO and Connie (Tony) Viggiani of North Chili, NY; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren and “one on the way.” She is also survived by one brother, William Barney of Arkport, NY; one sister, Sherry (Robert) Walters of Myrtle Beach, NC, as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 2-3 p.m. Friday (Dec. 10, 2021) at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell, where a funeral and committal service will be held in her memory at 3 p.m. Friday with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating. Face masks will be required at the funeral home. Thank you for understanding. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Fremont.
