OLIVE V. CROZIER
HORNELL-Olive V. Crozier, 91, formerly of 21 Alley Ave., died Easter Sunday morning (March 23, 2008) at Hornell Gardens, where she has resided for the past several years.
Born in Hornell on July 26, 1916, she was a daughter of the late William and Blanche Cleflin Oakes. On Feb. 23, 1935, she was married to Archie Crozier, who predeceased her in 1970 after 35 years of marriage. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her two sisters, Alice Oakes Henry and Emma Oakes Carney; her brother, Melvin Oakes, her step sister, Mary Hopkins Barnard: her son-in-law, Ludwig “Louie” Pauly and her dear friend, Lillian Grounds.
A life long resident of Hornell, Olive was a graduate of Hornell High School.
She was employed for 35 years as a sales clerk at the former Tuttle & Rockwell Store in Hornell.
Olive was a member of the former East Avenue Methodist Church in Hornell and a member of the Mizpah Class of the church. She also was a member and a past-president of the Bryant School PTA.
An avid reader, she also enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting.
Her family includes her daughter, Virginia Pauly of Hornell; her two grandchildren, Cynthia (Raymond) Donovan of Coxsackie and Douglas (Julie) Pauly of Virginia Beach, Va.; her three-great-granddaughters, Nicole, Jennifer and Ashley Donovan; her two step-great-grandchildren, Katey and Tyler Allen; also her nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell, where a funeral and committal service will be held following calling hours at 8 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Brian Diffenbacher officiating. Interment will be in Hope Cemetery, Hornell.
