NEOLA E. FRUNGILLO
HORNELL-Neola E. Frungillo, 89, passed away early Thursday morning (Oct. 2, 2008) at her home at 19 Erie Avenue, after a long illness.
Born in Wellsville on Sept. 23, 1919, she was the daughter of the late George and Georgia Kemp Swain. On May 7, 1946, she was married in Roulette, Pa. to Orlando F. Frungillo, who predeceased her on Nov. 26, 1993, after 47 years of marriage. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her daughter, Dora A. “Dino” Frungillo Amidon and her son, Orland “Frung” Frungillo.
A graduate of Wellsville Central School and a resident of Hornell for the past 51 years, Neola was a homemaker and served as a volunteer for the Hornell Area Chapter of the American Red Cross for several years. She was also a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Cpl. J.J. Mooney VFW Post in Hornell.
She was an accomplished pianist, a wonderful cook, an avid bingo player and enjoyed spending time on the computer emailing her friends. Neola will be remembered most of all for her out going personality.
Her family includes her three daughters, Virginia (Harry) Hackett of Virginia, Elaine (tom) Lester of Pennsylvania and Patty Frungillo of Hornell; her five sons, William (Jan) Jones of Florida and James (Diana) Jones of Portville, John (Margie) Frungillo of Hornell, Jerry Frungillo of Hornell and Michael Frungillo of Lake Panasoffkee, Fla.; her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; also her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Donald and Dorothy Frungillo of Belmont and her best friend of many years, Rose Carpenter.
To honor her wishes there will be no calling hours. Friends are invited to the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell where a funeral and committal service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Belmont.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in her memory to the Hornell Area Chapter of the American Red Cross, 24 Maple St., Hornell, NY 14843. Envelopes for memorial contributions will be available at the funeral home.
