Merlyn “Pat” Stowe

AVOCA – Merlyn “Pat” Stowe passed away peacefully at home the morning of Wednesday, (April 26, 2023).

Merlyn “Pat” Wilson Stowe was born October 20, 1923, in Hall, New York.  He was the middle son of the late Fred M. and Eunice Kelsey Shaut Stowe.  Pat graduated from Avoca Central School.  He was a veteran of World War II and served in the Army in the South Pacific from January 1943 to November 1945. He went to Alford University. On June 26, 1948, he was married to the former Maurine Jane Bauter. Pat was employed at Rochester Gas & Electric Corporation for 39 years retiring in 1985.

Pat and Jane loved traveling and took four cross-country trips driving through all of the lower

48 states with Jane’s parents and their children.

Upon retirement they lived in Avoca, New York, dividing their time between Avoca and North Port, Florida.  Pat and Jane were avid golfers and took many trips, RV traveling in the states including a trip to and through Alaska.  They made overseas trips to Australia, New Zealand, England, Wales, Scotland, Spain, Morocco, Turkey and Greece.

Pat’s family included his wife of 66 years, Jane; his son, Darren (Wini), their two grandchildren, Christine (Amier) and Madeline, great grandchildren Anthony and Isla, and daughter, Jodie Stowe.  Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Elton Stowe and Carlton Stowe.
