HAMMONDSPORT – Melvin “Barney” Hubbs Jr. formerly of 9687 Grove Springs Road, Hammondsport NY died Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Elcor Nursing Home.

Barney was born in Bath, NY on September 2, 1942 to the late Melvin Barney Hubbs Sr. and the late Francis Page Hubbs. He was a 1960 graduate of Hammondsport Central School and attended Heidelberg College, Tiffin, OH. He was employed by The Taylor Wine Company for most of his career with his most recent position being Director of Visitor Services. Additionally, he was Honorary Member of Glenwood Club, Trustee for both the Village of Hammondsport & Town of Wayne and he also served as a board member of the Fred & Harriett Taylor Foundation.

Barney is survived by his wife of 57 years, Judy Griffiths Hubbs; his son, Peter (Kimberly) Hubbs of Matthews, NC; his daughter, Paige (Cory) Tyksinski of Slingerlands, NY; five grandchildren, Alexander Hubbs, Madelyn Hubbs, Taylor (Joey) Picard, Tory Tyksinski, and Tommy Tyksinski; his sister, Marcia Ayers; his sister-in-law, Jane (Sandy) Honeyman; nieces and a nephew; and several cousins.

He loved his family, pets, Keuka Lake and his home of 45 years “High Acres”. The family will have a private memorial service at a later date.
