Max A. Tait

HAMMONDSPORT – Max A. Tait, 69, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at the Bath VA nursing home following a long illness. 

Born in Rochester on March 6, 1955, Max was a Navy Veteran during the Vietnam War. 

He loved the Lord with all his heart and attended Sunday morning church services with other fellow veterans at the nursing home facility. Max was a phenomenal guitarist, playing for hours at a time. He loved listening to rock music and going to music concerts. He loved NASCAR; hardly missing a race. Max was a big animal lover and would say that animals are better than most humans. 

Max is lovingly survived by his wife, Laura A. Tait of Hammondsport, son Jaime Tait (Angie Tait), brothers Larry, Mark, and David Tait of Rochester, Sisters Sheri Morseman of Avoca, Michele Calkins of Hammondsport, and Sharon Ramirez, brother-in-law Nelson Ramirez of Boca Raton, Florida, sister-in-law Mary Nacy of Rochester, grandchildren Tyler, Jessie, Kari, and Rhayana Tait, and Skylar Letowneau, great-grandson Brandon Keeler, all of North Tonawanda, as well as many other relatives and friends. He loved and cared for each one of them.


He is predeceased by his eldest son Larry Tait, father Lawrence Tait, Mother Elizabeth Nancy, mother-in-law Patricia Tait, and father-in-law James Nacy.

Family and friends are invited to the Hammondsport Methodist Church on 35 Lake Street, Hammondsport where a service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, December 17, 2024. A luncheon will follow the service, and a burial with military honors will be held at 2:00 PM at the Bath National Cemetery.
