MARYLYN RODKEY

HAMMONDSPORT – Marylyn Rodkey, 79, of Longwell Road, passed away peacefully on Friday (Jan. 6, 2023) at Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira.

Born in Nashville, TN, July 13, 1943, to the late Hovel Franks and Era (Phillips) Lee.  She was a graduate of Oak Hill Academy, in Virginia, she then received her Licensed Practical Nurse degree from BOCES.   After retiring from Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital, she continued working as a private care nurse for Walter Taylor.

Marylyn was a member of the Red Hat Society and Harvest Baptist Church.  She enjoyed teaching ceramics, was an avid gardener, and loved to bake.

Marylyn is loving survived by her sons Kirk (Candi) Dinger of Penn Yan, Christopher James Dinger of Reading, PA, Eric Dinger of Geneva, Luke Dinger of Savona; grandchildren Shelly Marie Dinger-Mertz of Pottstown, PA,  Jason Dinger-Mertz of Downingtown, PA, Abbigayle (Julian) Pellegrini, CJ Dinger of Reading, PA; and great-grandchildren Aiden Mertz, Caderyn Mertz of Downingtown, PA; brother Bill Covington of Nashville, TN; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents.

A Memorial Service will be held at Harvest Baptist Church, 7568 NY-54, Bath, NY 14810, on Monday (Jan. 23, 2023) at 12:00 p.m., with Pastor Alan Lindmark officiating.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in her memory to the Finger Lakes SPCA, 72 Cameron St., Bath, NY 14810.
