Mary V. Cooper

WALLACE-Mary V. Cooper, 90, passed away Sunday morning (March 1, 2020) at her home on the Wallace Back Road (Town of Avoca).

Born in Avoca on March 10, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Grace (Newman) Towner. On March 29, 1947 she was married in Avoca to Robert D. Cooper, who predeceased her on April 2, 2014 after 67 years of marriage. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by two sisters, Grace Ann Payne and Mildred Zarkas.

A native and lifelong resident of the Avoca/Wallace area, Mary was employed at Gunlocke in Wayland before she retired.

She attended the Avoca United Methodist Church and was a member of the Avoca Historical Society. Mary was also an avid quilter and especially enjoyed her Tuesday coffee clutch with Mary (Dickie) Cooper, Norma Cooper and Nancy (Bill) Slayton.

Her loving family includes three children, Jean (Guy) Hattenbach of Corpus Christi, Texas, Bonnie (Kim) Bowen of Cohocton and Robert (Robin) Cooper of Avoca; eight grandchildren, Keith, Michael, Jody, Bobby, Damon, Darin, Buddy and Shane; also numerous great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Jean Ash of Florida; as well as several nieces, nephews and many in-laws.

The Avoca Funeral Home, 22 N. Main St., Avoca is honored to serve the family of Mary V. Cooper.

There will be no calling hours and a private funeral service will be held in her memory at the convenience of the family.
