HAMMONDSPORT – Mary Beth Clark, age 74, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2021 at her Hammondsport home.
She was born in Elmira, NY on May 20,1947 the daughter of Harry L. and Clara E. Johnson Shoemaker. She is survived by her husband, Forrest H. Clark, Jr. of Hammondsport, NY; her sons and daughters-in-law, Christopher and Mary Clark of Corning, NY, Patrick and Sarah Clark of Richardson, TX and Andrew Clark of Bath, NY. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Bryce Clark of Corning and Madison, Connor and Carter of Minnesota and McKenna and Landon Clark of Richardson, TX. Her sister, Lynne Shoemaker and brother-in-law, Richard Moyle of Canandaigua and Keuka Lake and her sister-in-law, Loretta (Arthur) Ostrov of Saratoga Springs also survive her. Also surviving her are four nieces and nephews: Allison and Justin Clark and Michael and Richard Shoemaker-Moyle.
Mary Beth graduated from Southside High School in Elmira, class of 1965; SUNY Geneseo in 1969 and received her master’s degree from Elmira College. She worked for 31 years at Hammondsport Elementary School, teaching kindergarten as well as several years with 5th and 2nd graders.
Mary Beth was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Bath, NY for 52 years. She was an ordained elder and deacon and had served on the Pastor Nominating Committee. She loved music and sang in the church choir for over 25 years. She was active in the community as a long-time member of AAUW; the Bostwick Club; “Bath Bubbles” Red Hat society; and Delta Kappa Gamma honorary educators’ society. Mary Beth was an avid shopper who could always find the best deals! She loved music and small children and after retirement she and Woody spent many happy winters at The Villages in Florida. They also enjoyed cruising in the Caribbean and traveling throughout Europe.
Calling hours will be at the LaMarche Funeral Home, 35 Main St., Hammondsport, NY on Saturday, Nov. 27, 2021 from 1 to 3 pm. The funeral will be on the following Saturday, Dec. 4. 2021 at 11 am in the First Presbyterian Church, Bath, NY. The Rev. Dr. David S. Barnard officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Hammondsport
