MARY ANN SULLIVAN

HORNELL-Mary Ann Sullivan, 64, of Ontario St., entered into rest unexpectedly Tuesday (April 5, 2011).
Born in Hornell on July 27, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence J. and Bernice M. Emo Sullivan. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her brother, Jere F. Sullivan.
A graduate of Hornell High School, Mary Ann received an associate’s degree from Alfred State College and a bachelor’s degree from Empire State College.
She resided in Rochester from 1967 until 2000 at which time she returned to Hornell to care for her mother.
Mary Ann was employed part time for Faith In Action in Hornell before she began her full time employment with Catholic Charities of Steuben County, formerly known as Kinship & Family Youth Services also in Hornell.
A member of the Ladies of Columbus, she was also an active and devout member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and was a communicant of St. Ann’s Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the Liturgy Committee and the Bereavement Committee.
Mary Ann always looked forward to spending time having lunch once a month with her longtime and dear friends.
Her family includes her two brothers, Brian R. Sullivan of Hornell and James R. (Florence) Sullivan of Williamsburg, Va.; her sister- in- law, Mary Ann (Hoffman) Sullivan of South Lyon, Mich.; her six nieces and nephews, Jean Reuter, Tim (Leslie) Sullivan and Carolyn (Tom) Pollard all of Michigan; Dan (Laura) Sullivan of Florida, Meredith (Rick) White of Williamsburg, Va. and David (Shirley) Sullivan of Trumansburg; also her 12 great nieces and great nephews and her many cousins.
Calling hours are from 4-7 p.m. Friday at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell, where the Ladies of Columbus will conduct a memorial service at 6:30 p.m. Friday. Friends are invited to meet her family at St. Ann’s Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday. Interment will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Hornell.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in her memory to Catholic Charities of Steuben County, 20 Elm St., Hornell, N.Y. 14843. Envelopes for memorial contributions will be available at the funeral home.
