MARIA A. (GRILLO) DUNN

HORNELL-Maria A. (Grillo) Dunn, 49, passed away early Wednesday morning (June 2, 2010) at her home at 125 Thacher St., after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Hornell on Feb. 4, 1961, she was a daughter of the late John and Giovanna “Jennie” Brundu Grillo. On Sept. 25, 1998, she was married at St. Ann’s Church in Hornell to Duane L. Dunn, who survives.
A life long resident of Hornell, Maria was a graduate of Hornell High School (class of 1979) and the Olean Business Institute.
She was formerly employed at the Sunset Restaurant and the former Acme Market in Hornell before she began her employment with the ServU Federal Credit Union also in Hornell.
Maria was a communicant of St. Ann’s Church in Hornell and enjoyed cooking, decorating and doing crafts. She was also an avid Yankees and Jets fan.
A loving and devoted wife, mother, sister and friend, her family includes her husband of nearly 12 years, Duane; her son, Tyler Dunn, at home; her sister, Joanne (Pat) Conklin of South Carolina; her two brothers, John Grillo of Hornell and Peter (Colleen) Grillo of Howard; her many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins; also her mother-in-law, Joan Dunn of Hornell; her two sisters-in-law, Debra Cook of Watertown and Shelly Dunn (Randy) of Canisteo; her two brothers-in-law, Douglas (Jean) Dunn and Robert (Kolleen) Dunn all of Hornell; and her many dear friends.
Calling hours are from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell. Friends are invited to meet her family at St. Ann’s Church where a funeral service will take place in her memory at 11 a.m. Saturday, with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in her memory to their favorite charity.
