HOWARD – Margaret Ann Kidder passed away late Sunday evening (April 8, 2018) at the age of 88, with her family by her side.
Margaret was a lifelong resident of Howard. She was predeceased by her husband, Lindsley Kidder; parents Harland and Thannette; sisters, Carolyn Carson, Marilyn Kellogg, Muriel Holmes, and Betty Ranger; and a great-grandchild, Hayden Kidder.
She is survived by her children, Barry (Brenda), Mark, Marsha (Bob), Michael (Brigid), and Barbara (Bob); 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. Margaret was a wonderful mother and caregiver to all the generations of her family.
Margaret operated Kidder’s Beauty Shop in Howard for 65 years and was thankful for the lifelong friendships she enjoyed with so many of her clients. She was a 75-year member of the Howard Union Church where she was famous for the hundreds of delicious pies she baked for Church dinners and pie sales. Margaret was also a member of the Howard Volunteer Fire Department and earned Firewoman of the Year honors in 2002.
One of her greatest joys was spending summers at the family’s cottage on Lake Demon. Family picnics and celebrations “at the cottage” were enjoyed by all the generations. Margaret and Lindy always looked forward to spending time with their good friends from Lake Demon.

There will be an hour of calling from 1-2 p.m. Sunday (April 15, 2018) at the Howard Union Church where a funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. Sunday, with the Rev. James Pearce officiating. Committal services and interment will follow at the Howard Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Howard Cemetery c/o Robert Cleeves, 3597 County Route 70A, Hornell N.Y.14843 or to the Howard Volunteer Fire Department, 3622 County Route 70A, Avoca N.Y. 14809. Envelopes for memorial contributions will be available at the church on Sunday.
