MADELINE H. GREELEY
HORNELL-Madeline H. Greeley, 83, passed away early Thursday morning (Dec. 30, 2010) at her home at 134 East Elm Street.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio on June 1, 1927, she was the last surviving child born to the late Phillip and Theresa Ruschell Kollra. On Dec. 26, 1946, she was married in Scranton, Pa. to Eugene A. “Gene” Greeley, who predeceased her on May 17, 1999 after 53 years of marriage.
A former resident of Scranton where she graduated from St. Patrick’s High School in 1946, Madeline has resided in Hornell for the past 64 years.
In addition to being a homemaker, she was also employed at Dyco Electronics Inc. in Hornell, retiring in 1987.
Madeline was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and was a devout communicant of St. Ann’s Church and was also a member of the Perpetual Adoration Chapel.
She enjoyed bus trips to the area Casinos and cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her family includes her three sons, Andy (Tomi) Greeley and Bob (Kathy) Greeley all of Hornell and Patrick (Ann) Greeley of Buffalo; her daughter, Debbie Greeley of Hornell; her nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; also her nieces and nephews.
To honor her wishes there will be no calling hours. Friends are invited to meet her family at St. Ann’s Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Fremont.
