LOUISE N. HURLBURT

HORNELL-Louise N. Hurlburt, 82, formerly of Glen Ave., Ext., passed away early Thursday morning (April 9, 2009) at McAuley Manor in North Hornell.
Born in Austin, Pa. on May 19, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Elma Snyder Bundy. On Oct. 20, 1942, she was married in Coudersport, Pa. to Homer A. Hurlburt, who predeceased her on March 30, 1990, after nearly 48 years of marriage. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her one grandchild and two great-grandchildren and several brothers and sisters.
A resident of Hornell for most of her life, Louise graduated from school in Austin, Pa. and taught in one room schoolhouse in Oden, Pa.
She loved music and wrote a song that was published. One of her other loves were animals, especially birds.
Her family includes her seven children, Russell (Brenda) Hurlburt of Hornell, Phillip Hurlburt of Florida, Michael (Lucinda) Hurlburt of Hornell, Brenda Hurlburt of Mt. Dora, Fla., Hal Hurlburt of Burns, Diana (Robert) Conlan of Canisteo and Homer (Deborah) Hurlburt of Hornell; her 17 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren; her two brothers, Leon (Eliza) Bundy of Austin, Pa., Leo “Mike” Bundy of Shinglehouse, Pa.; her two sisters, Esther Primaeu of Ocala, Fla. and Freda “Helen” Rankin of Bolivar; also her nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours are from 11 a.m.-1p.m. Monday at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell, where a funeral and committal service will be held following calling hours at 1 p.m. Monday with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Canisteo.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Assoc., 435 E. Henrietta Rd., Rochester, NY 14620 or to the Activities Fund at McAuley Manor, 1 Bethesda Dr., Hornell, NY 14843. Envelopes for memorial contributions will be available at the funeral home.
