LEROY J. “ROY” WYANT
ARKPORT-LeRoy J. “Roy” Wyant, 79, of Conderman Road, died early Thursday morning (Sept. 29, 2011) at his home.
Born in Hornell on March 26, 1932, the son of Theodore and Blanche Gayhart Wyant, he was predeceased by his parents, his wife, the former Doris Ordway, his son, Ronald Wyant and his brother, William Wyant.
His family includes his wife, Veronica VanNess from Scio; his two daughters, Debra (John) Giehl of Irondequoit and Susan Russell of Santa Fe, New Mexico; his son, Ted Wyant of Rochester; his three grandchildren, Jacob, Janelle and Erin; his sister, Stella Campbell of New Mexico; also his nieces, nephews, cousins and he was blessed with life time friends, Phil and Bev Loree, Rich and Jean Pollinger and Ron and Carolyn Quinlan.
A graduate of Hornell High School, class of 1951, Roy served with the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1956 and attended Alfred State College.
He was a former resident of Rochester where he was employed at Gleason’s, Stromberg-Carlson and retired from Northern Telecom in Plano, TX after 18 years.
Roy was an avid card player and golfer and was a member of the Hornell Golf Club.
Calling hours are from 5-7 p.m.Sunday at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell, where a funeral and committal service will be held following calling hours at 7 p.m. today, with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating. Interment, with military honors, will take place at 1 p.m. Monday at Maplewood Cemetery, Henrietta.
The United State Flag and the Navy flay will proudly fly at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc. in recognition of Roy’s service with the U.S. Navy.
