LEO E. DAMRATH

HORNELL-Leo E. Damrath, 52, of Grand St., passed away Thursday morning (Sept. 11, 2014) at St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell, after a brief illness.
Born in France on Dec. 21, 1961, he was a son of Gerald J. Damrath, who predeceased him on March 19, 2005 and Marjorie George Damrath, who survives.
Leo resided in several areas before moving to Hornell in 1975 where he graduated from Hornell Senior High School, class of 1980.
Throughout the years he had been employed with the NYSDOT, Hornell DPW, Wegmans, Billy Schu’s Food Bar and most recently at Seven-Eleven in Hornell.
He loved to read, especially about history and sports. He was a Yankees and NY Giants fan and was always ready to watch a good game or war movie. Leo also enjoyed sitting around a fire talking about sports, history or both.
Besides his loving mother, Marjorie; his family includes his son, Avery Vandruff; also his aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
The Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc. in Hornell is honored to serve the family of Leo E. Damrath.
To honor his wishes there will be no calling hours. A funeral service will be held in his memory at 11 a.m. Monday at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell, with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating. Private committal services and interment will be at St. Ann’s Cemetery, Hornell.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in his memory to Our Lady of the Valley Parish, 27 Erie Ave., Hornell, N.Y. 14843. Envelopes for memorial contributions will be available at the funeral home.
