Laura M. Schutz

BATH-Laura M. Schutz, 84, passed away Thursday morning (Dec. 17, 2020) at the Taylor Health Center in Bath, after a long illness.

Born in Wayland on March 11, 1936 she was the daughter of the late Walter and Ruth (Evans) Loveland. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Delbert Schutz and one daughter, Deborah Ann Finch.

A graduate of Wayland Central School, Laura was an office manager for the Steuben County Department of Public Works (DPW) in Bath for 20 years before she retired. She was also the bookkeeper for her husband’s trucking business.

Laura enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved animals and camping and especially enjoyed building and landscaping her new home. In later years she liked spending time with her weekly “coffee clutch.”

Her family includes her son, Douglas Schutz; three grandchildren, Desirea (Dan) Houck, Azechia Schutz and Sadie Schutz; five great-grandchildren, Lukas, Delaney, Meridel, Brooklyn and Lylliona; one brother, Donald (Rosemary Putzig) Loveland; one nephew, Ted Loveland; one niece, Vicky Johnson.

Calling hours are 2-4 p.m. Tuesday (Dec. 22, 2020) at the Avoca Funeral Home, 22 N. Main St., Avoca, where a funeral and committal service will be held following calling hours at 4 p.m. Tuesday, with Pastor Barre Butts officiating. THOSE ATTENDING THE CALLING HOURS OR SERVICE WILL BE REQUIRED TO WEAR A FACE MASK AND PRACTICE SOCIAL DISTANCING. Interment will be in Valley View Cemetery, Avoca.
