JOYCE E. WAGNER
COHOCTON-Joyce E. Wagner, 74, passed away late Wednesday evening (May 2, 2012) at her home on Church Street.
Born in Hornell on Feb. 10, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Moran Murphy. On June 13, 1965, she was married in Bath to Leon R. “Dick” Wagner, who predeceased her on Nov. 13, 2003, after 38 years of marriage. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her daughter, Betsy and her sister, Janice.
A graduate of Avoca Central School, Joyce has resided in Cohocton for most of her life and was employed as a waitress at the former Murphy Lanes in Bath and the Bath Drive In.
She loved lighthouses and enjoyed traveling to see them as well as Colonial homes. Joyce also liked to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She would often be seen enjoying the company of friends at several area diners. Joyce will be remembered most of all for her jokes and quick wit.
Her family includes her daughter, Kellie Zimmerman of Walton; her six grandchildren, Lindsey Contello, Eric Zimmerman, Jacob Nichols, Jesse Wagner, Crystal Zimmerman and Ricky Zimmerman; her four great-grandchildren, Gabriella Contello, Natalie Contello, Keilie Dones, Cameron Jiminez; also several nieces and nephews and her special friends, Pat (Gene) Drum, Debbie (Mike) Mehlenbacher and Dan (Sue) Gardner.
Calling hours are from 6-7 p.m. Monday (May 14) at the Cohocton Assembly of God Church where a funeral service will be held in her memory following calling hours at 7 p.m. Monday (May 14). Committal services and interment will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday (May15) at Mapleview Cemetery, Cohocton.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in her memory to either Southern Tier Hospice, 11751 E. Corning Road, Corning, N.Y. 14830, to the Cohocton Volunteer Ambulance, 43 Maple Ave., Cohcoton or to the Cohocton Assembly of God Church, 31 N. Dansville St., Cohocton, N.Y. 14826.
