Canaseraga (Town of Burns) – Died peacefully on November 17, 2018 at the age of 92.
Survived by his wife of 64 years, Helen Marie; daughter, Michele (Craig) Brooks; son, David (Maria) De Vinney and grandson, Stephen Joseph De Vinney.
Born in Hornell, NY; Joe was predeceased by his mother & father, Roy & Aldena (Gaffney) De Vinney and brother, John J. De Vinney.
Joe served our country during WWII attaining the rank of Corporal/ Technician Fifth Grade. He was a member of the 10th Infantry Regiment, U.S. Army. His last assignment was with Company C, 772nd Military Police Battalion. He attended St. Bonaventure University, where he studied English. He retired after 37 years from the NYS DOT as a Civil Engineer 1 / Grade 20.
Joe had a passion for historical aircraft, building models and working on his antique cars. He was an avid member of the National Warplane Museum in Geneseo, NY.
Joe’s family would like to thank the Bath VA’s Home Care Service and Hospice Care Departments for the care and compassion they provided during the past four months. They are a special group of people.
Private interment service to be held at a later date at the Bath National Cemetery.
