John C. Burdin, Jr.

COHOCTON – John C. “Jack” Burdin, Jr. of Cohocton, NY passed away unexpectedly on Thursday (Dec 21. 2023).

Jack is survived by his wife of 42 years, Bonnie (Sabins) Burdin; his children, Nichole (David) LaPlaca and Jay (Emily) Burdin; his grandchildren, Daniel and Meredith LaPlaca, Carter, Gavin, and Aubrey Burdin; his siblings, Susan (Nicholas) Pircio, Paula (John Higgins) Burdin, Robert (Brenda) Burdin, David (Melinda) Burdin, and Dale (Marrianne) Burdin; his mother-in-law, Susie (Towner) Sabins; his brothers and sisters-in-law, John (Bonnie) Sabins, Diane (Doug) Austin, Leon (Lillian) Sabins, Brenda Sabins, Richard (Melinda) Sabins; and several beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and cousins.

Jack was predeceased by his parents, John C. and Pauline M. (Beechner) Burdin; his son, John C. Burdin III;  his father-in-law, Jay Sabins; and his brother-in-law Mark Sabins.

Jack was born on October 31, 1952 to John C. and Pauline M. (Beechner) Burdin in Bath, NY. He was a 1970 graduate of Avoca Central School. Jack served in the U.S. Air Force from 1971 to 1975. He worked at the Polly-O Dairy of Cohocton and Campbell, NY, and retired after 32 years. He was an active member of the Avoca No. 673 Masons Lodge and past Master. Additionally, Jack was an active member of the Cohocton Valley Ambulance Service and also served on the Cohocton Zoning Board of Appeals for many years.

Jack was a devoted husband, father, and dedicated Papa. He enjoyed spending time with his family and had a passion for woodworking. He was also a lifelong Buffalo Bills fan. (Go Bills!)

Jack’s smile was infectious and he leaves behind a legacy of kindness and generosity. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.

The family will receive family and friends from 1 to 4 pm on Thursday, (Dec. 28, 2023) at the Howard Fire Hall, with the funeral services to immediately follow at the same location. The burial will be held at the family’s convenience.
