John P. Coleman

HORNELL-John P. Coleman, 65, passed away Sunday evening (March 20, 2022), in the presence of his loving family, at his home on Oak Street, after a long hard battle with cancer.

Born in Hornell on July 21, 1956 he was a son of the late Paul and Lila (Hamilton) Coleman.

A graduate of Hornell High School, class of 1974, John resided in Almond for about 15 years before returning to Hornell.

He was employed at the former SKF Industries in Hornell until it closed and was employed as a machinist at Dresser Rand in Wellsville for 30 years.

A member of the Hornell Association and the Hornell Am Vets Post, John was a big Buffalo Bills fan, loved animals, especially dogs and at one time liked to hunt. John was an extremely talented machinist, who enjoyed working and had a strong work ethic so that he could provide for his family. He will be remembered most of all for being “one of a kind.”

His loving surviving family includes his devoted wife of 40 years, Belinda LoCoco Coleman, who he married at St. Ann’s Church in Hornell on Sept. 5, 1981; one son, John (Elizabeth) Coleman of Hornell; one brother, Paul (Cindy) Coleman of Almond, NY; three sisters, Ruth Curtis, Joan Bailey and Carol Nieto all of Rochester, NY; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and cousins.

To honor his wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral service. A “Celebration of Life” will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in his memory to the Hornell Area Humane Society, 7649 Industrial Park Road, Hornell, NY 14843.
