John C. McFarland

NEW YORK CITY / AVOCA – John C. McFarland, age 90, died on June 3, 2022. Born in Valdosta, Georgia on December 23, 1931. His family relocated to New York City, where he attended school.

He entered the United States Army on September 18, 1951, and reached the level of Sargent, receiving an honorable discharge in 1953. Upon his return from service, at the age of 22, he met and married Shirley Joyner. He worked for 30 years for Neo-Ray, before retiring as Plant Manager. He was a 50-year member IBEW. Mr. McFarland loved to drive to vacation destinations and volunteered at the Annadale Staten Island.

John was predeceased by his wife Shirley and son Gregory.

John is survived by his children, Michael (Marie), Anthony, Deidere (Stephen) Wilson; Grandchildren Aaron, Annamarie, Amanda, Alicia (Frank) Pressley; Great-Grandchildren Darrean, Kharma, Amani, Madison, Carter, and Da Kharie.

At this time there will be on calling hours. A celebration of life will take place at a later date, at the connivence of the family.
