Janice E. Spence
Janice E. Spence
CANASERAGA – Passed away on Friday, May 27, 2022. As ever the original, Janice penned her own goodbye for her obituary:
“We never say goodbye, we say so long. To my amazing children, Tracy and husband Scott Moran, Bryan Blum, and Jason Blum; to my wonderful grandchildren, Zachary, Kevin, Kyle, Allison, Kaylee, and Erin; to my super and supportive sister, Debra Gould and her husband, Michael Aquilino; to my dear and loving friends, I leave you all my love to carry with you. You all enriched my life and made me complete. Do not feel sorrow, put smiles on your faces! We have so many great memories of our time together. This is not goodbye! I will always be with you as you will always be with me. Love, Mom, Grandma, Janice.”
Janice’s professional life was mostly in healthcare and related industries. She loved her work at the University of Rochester, Department of Cardiology as a Grants Administrator. Janice was particularly passionate about her role as Executive Director of the Bethesda Foundation, where she worked until the time of her passing.
Janice dearly loved her family and friends, live music and Labradors, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Janis Joplin, BV, nicotine, and Chanel No. 5. Her last spoken word on this earth was “wonderful”. A two-time cancer survivor for over ten years, the third time was not the charm. Janice did not go gentle into that good night – she fought fiercely and bravely until the end.
Janice was predeceased by the love of her life, Ronald R. (Red) Spence, her parents H. Charles and Vera Rock Gould, and her brother Gary L. Gould. She is survived by her loving family named in her goodbye, many wonderful friends as well as her adoring grand puppies Izzy and Gibbs.
A private celebration of life is planned for later this summer. Memorial donations may be made in Janice’s memory to HomeCare & Hospice, Olean, New York and the SPCA Serving Allegany County.
The Bishop-Johnson & DeSanto Funeral Home, 285 Main St., Hornell is honored to assist Janice’s family with the arrangements.
