Janice A. (Marshall) Wood

Janice A. (Marshall) Wood

Janice A. (Marshall) Wood, age 69, died peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Wednesday (March 13, 2024). Janice was born November 2, 1954 at the old Bethesda Hospital in North Hornell, NY to Mary Lauterborn Marshall and Frank Marshall. Janice worked at the Steuben Trust Company for almost 40 years.

Janice’s first born, Sara (Jonathan) Mullikin, she loved so much, and they are so much like each other; strong, independent, Scorpion women. They shared a bond only a mother and daughter could have.

Matthew (Cassie) Wood was raised to be the man of the house. A kind, funny and caring man. The love of a mother and son was absolute who protected us always and was a hero to his mother and sister now and during his Marine Corps years.

“Gramma” is a title Janice wore proudly and made sure everyone she came across knew the love of her life, Matthew and Cassie’s daughter, her granddaughter Oakley. Gramma and Oakley had a very special and loving bond. When Sara and Jonathan were married, Janice was blessed with the addition of a granddaughter Isabella Mullikin. Janice was so proud of the young woman she is becoming.

Janice had so many friends it would not be possible to list them, including a companion, Marc Rowley who she was thankful to have in the last years of her life. Janice’s aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws, all were part of creating a loving family through the years since Janice did not have any siblings. Janice is survived by her ex-in-laws, Bea and Dave Trickler, Doris Fisk and their children, Dana Wood, Karen Wood Mahaney, Bill (Lori) Meade, and Karen and Bill’s daughters.

Janice loved life, especially every second spent with her family. Janice retired in 2016 which then allowed her to travel to many places on her bucket list. Many summers Janice worked as a candlemaker assistant at the Sterling, N.Y. Renaissance Faire which was her passion and a magical place to be. Janice wants everybody to know that she loves you all and will see you on the other side.

Calling hours are 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday (March 23, 2024) at the Bishop-Johnson & DeSanto Funeral Home, 285 Main St., Hornell where a funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday following the calling hours with Pastor Lenny Fuller officiating.
