James “Jim” H. Pipe
PRATTSBURGH/AVOCA – Jim was called home on Monday (Aug. 12, 2024).
He was born in Corning, NY to Reuben and Margaret (Waite, nee Hodge) Pipe on March 8, 1941.
Jim was predeceased by both his parents; his stepmother, Norma (Berlin) Pipe; and his brother David Berlin.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joyce (Fox) Pipe; his sister, Janice Kulyeshie (Hendley, nee Pipe); brother and sister-in-law, Don & Pat Berlin; son and daughter-in-law, Kirk & Laurinda Pipe; daughter and son-in-law, Jacquelyn & Scott Haskins; along with his grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Jim lived most of his life in and around Avoca, NY. Over the years, he was involved in many local clubs and organizations, including the Avoca Fire Department, Rod & Gun Club, Lions Club and the American Legion.
He enjoyed working on cars, hunting, camping, and playing cards.
Jim ended his 37-year career at Corning Glass Works as an Industrial Truck Mechanic.
Jim was a generous person who gave freely of his time and resources. He was liked by most, dearly loved by those who knew him best, and will be truly missed!
In lieu of a traditional funeral, Jim wanted a “Day to Remember” that will take place beginning at 2 p.m. SUNDAY (Aug. 18, 2024) at Joyce & Jim’s “Picnic Area” at their residence, 9973 County Route 7, Prattsburgh, NY 14873.
