WAYNE – James Donald McAfee 48 of Wayne, NY passed away after a long illness. Jim was born on July 10, 1973. The son of Donald McAfee and the late Janet McAfee. Jim married Stacy on August 14, 1999.

Jim is survived by his wife Stacy Hoad McAfee of 23 years, and his favorite buddy Jackson. His father Donald McAfee, his siblings Larue (Jo’ el) McAfee, Todd (Gail) McAfee & Louise McAfee. Nephews Evan (Brandy) McAfee, Kane (Jen) McAfee, and his niece Trehana (Jeremy Taft) Hoad, and several great nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, father and mother-in-law Randy (Kim) Hoad and brother-in-law Aaron Hoad. Jim was predeceased by his mother Janet McAfee in 2012.

Jim was a 1992 graduate of Hammondsport Central Schools. Jim had his own lawn care business, having some customers since he was 12. He was also employed by Crestwood Midstream in Savona, NY for 10 years. He was previously employed by New Market Products in Wayne, NY.

Jim loved hunting, he always said it was his Christmas. He especially enjoyed hunting with his brother and nephews. Jim was an avid collector of everything. Jim also had a race car and raced for a couple of years at Black Rock Speedway in Dundee, NY. Having 1 feature win and many feature wins.

Jim was a 35-year member of the Wayne Fired Department. He was also a member of the Wayne American Legion SAL.

Calling hours are 5-7 p.m. Tuesday (March 1, 2022) at the Bishop & DeSanto (formerly LaMarche) Funeral Home, 35 Main St., Hammondsport and Wednesday (March 2, 2022) 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. where a funeral service will take place following calling hours at 12 p.m. Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in his memory to the Wayne Fire Department, PO Box 182, Wayne, NY 14893. Envelopes for memorial contributions will be available at the funeral home. Burial will take place at McDowell Cemetery in Wayne, NY.
