James Clifford Dodge
HORNELL – With profound sadness, but joy in our hearts, our blessed Husband, Father, Grandfather and Friend, James Clifford Dodge at 76 years of age, surrounded by his wife and 7 Children entered God’s hands peacefully early Friday morning (Nov. 10, 2023).
James was a man of immense love, faith, and loyalty, who enjoyed listening to Elvis, Hunting and Golfing with his boys and friends. He cherished his family above all else and devoted his life to their happiness and well-being, especially his two daughters “Dizzy” & his “baby girl”. He was married to his beloved wife, Mary Elise(Weber) Dodge, for 50 years and together they raised seven children, James Jr. (Amanda), Matthew (Tricia), Joshiah (Kristin), Thomas (Regina), Jonathan (Sarah), Mary Liz Dodge and Hannah (Jeffrey) Williamson, who gave them 18 grandchildren, Jacob James, Hayden, Peyton, Joshiah James, Sadie, Parker, Jack, Maya, Mia, Luciana, Lyla, Charliegh, Siena, Alice, Remington, Brody, Arlo James and Walker. James was always there for them, supporting them in their dreams, celebrating their achievements, comforting them in their sorrows and sharing his wisdom and stories. He was immensely proud of each and every one of them and happiest in their company. Also, he is survived by his brother Phil and several nieces and nephews.
He was also a devoted son to his late mother, Mary Helen, who raised him with courage, and he honored her memory and followed her example of kindness and compassion throughout his life. Loyal to the end were his High School “best” buddies, Thomas Gray, Steven Booth, Pat McDaniels, and James Sparro.
Predeceased by his parents Paul & Mary Dodge, brother Paul Jr., sister Barbara Gozelski and sister-in-law Mary Jane Dodge.
To honor his wishes there will be no calling hours. Relatives and friends are invited to join his family at St. Ann’s Church, 31 Erie Ave., Hornell where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in his memory at 1:30 p.m. Thursday (Nov. 16, 2023)
