HELEN PARSELS
BATH-Helen Parsels, 88, of Bath, passed away peacefully, with her family at her side, Sunday afternoon (Nov. 9, 2014) at the Taylor Health Center in Bath.
Born in Dushore, Pa. on Feb. 6, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Eliza Gardner Smith. On March 3, 1948 she was married to Burton “Austin†Parsels who predeceased her in 1997, after 49 years of marriage.
Her loving family includes her eight children, Donna (Larry) Andrews of Bath, Charles (Wendy) Parsels of Zephyrhills, Fla., Kenneth (Joyce) Parsels of Avoca, Donald (Donna) Parsels of Cohocton, Mary (Gerald) McCarthy of Lake Placid, Fla., David (Judy) Parsels of Lakeville, Thomas Parsels of Avoca and Molly (Michael) Chaney of McGuire AFB, N.J. She is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; as well as several brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
Helen had been employed at several businesses, including the silk mills in Hornell, Molly’s Diner and Dutch’s Restaurants of Bath and Mercury Aircraft of Hammondsport. She also served as Sunday School Superintendant under the leadership of the late Rev. Charles Hann for several years.
The Avoca Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Helen Parsels.
Calling hours are from 1-3 p.m. Thursday at the Avoca Funeral Home, 22 N. Main St., Avoca, where a funeral service will be held following calling hours at 3 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Craig Buckley officiating.
Interment will be in the Bath National Cemetery.
