FRANCES R. BRUNDU
HORNELL-Frances R. Brundu, 83, of 14 Mays Ave., passed away Monday afternoon (March 10, 2008) at McAuley Manor in North Hornell, after a long illness.
Born in Addison on Sept. 12, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Bernice Tompkins Bebout. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Jacqueline Schleyer in 1999 and her two brothers, Duane Bebout and Wendell Bebout.
A resident of Hornell for most of her life, Fran was employed by Stern & Stern Textiles, Inc. in Hornell for 37 years before her retirement.
She was a former member of Christ Episcopal Church in Hornell, a former member of the Women of the Moose, Hornell Lodge No. 210, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Cpl. J.J. Mooney VFW Post No. 2250 and the Arthur H. Cunningham American Legion Post No. 440 Auxiliary in Hornell.
Fran dearly loved her dogs and enjoyed sewing, doing crafts and spending summers on Keuka Lake.
Her family includes her husband of 56 years, Salvatore “Sal” Brundu, who she married in Tyrone on July l, 1951. her two grandchildren, Kelly (Lee) Green of Dansville and John (Julie) Schleyer of Glenwood; her son-in-law, William Schleyer of Dansville; her three great-grandchildren, Dan & Jack Schleyer and Carly Green; her brother, Sterling (Mary) Bebout of Rochester; also her nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours are from 3-7 p.m. Thursday at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell, where a funeral and committal service will be held following calling hours at 7 p.m. Thursday, with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Fremont.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in her memory to the Hornell City Ambulance, 108 Broadway, Hornell, NY 14843. Envelopes for memorial contributions will be available at the funeral home.
