EVELYN A. WEST

HORNELL-Evelyn A. West, 94, of Hornell, passed away late Sunday afternoon (April 10, 2011) at McAuley Manor in North Hornell.
Born in Wantagh, Long Island on Oct. 31, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Bernhardt and Emma Mayer Seligman. Besides her parents she was also predeceased by her great-grandson, Collin Hulse; her sister, Hazel Hohenstern; her two brothers, Robert Seligman and Bernhardt Seligman; and her former husband, Richard West
A resident of Long Island for 36 years, Evelyn also resided in Prattsburgh for 28 years before becoming a resident of Hornell in 1980.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and was a communicant of St. Ann’s Church in Hornell and a member of the former Lady of Mercy Praesidium, Legion of Mary.
Her family includes her four children, Lynn (Stephen) Hulse of Branchport, Richard (Barbara) West, Jr. of The Villages, Fla., Mary (David) Bordeaux of Almond and Jeanette (Jay) Pastelak of Jenkintown, Pa.; her eight grandchildren, Jeffrey (Karen) Hulse, Mark (Heather) Hulse, Matthew Hulse, Claudine (Ron) Contreras, Carrie (Thomas) Roselli, David (Maria) Bordeaux, Justin (Nicole) Bordeaux and Natalie Pastelak; her eight great-grandchildren, Maggie, Serena, Sydney, T.J., Brennan, Allegra, Luke and Christopher; her sister-in-law, Mary Ann Temple of Whitesville; also many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell. Friends are invited to meet her family at St. Ann’s Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday. Committal prayers and interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Fremont.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may have masses offered in her memory or contribute to the charity of the donor’s choice.
