Eric C. Riefer

HORNELL-Eric C. Riefer, 42, of Greeley Avenue, passed away late Tuesday evening (June 14, 2022) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, after a long illness.

Born in Hornell on June 11, 1980 he was a son of Joseph M. and Regina P. (Criss) Riefer, who survive.

A lifelong resident of Hornell, Eric attended St. Ann’s School and was a graduate of Hornell High School, class of 1999.

He was formerly employed at Wegmans in Hornell and the Swain Ski Center.

Eric loved 4-wheeling and listening to music, especially oldies and Kenny Rogers. He enjoyed nature and spending time outside and also liked to work on computers, scratch off lottery tickets and visiting with his many friends.

He is lovingly survived by his parents, Joe and Regina Riefer; one sister, Melissa Riefer; one brother, Robert Riefer all of Hornell; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Robert and Eunice Criss and paternal grandparents, Francis and Dorothy Riefer.

Calling hours are 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Tuesday (June 21, 2022) at the Bishop-Johnson & DeSanto Funeral Home, 285 Main St., Hornell, where a funeral service will take place following calling hours at 1 p.m. Tuesday, with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Fremont.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in his memory to their favorite charity.
