Elizabeth B. “Betty” Rahmlow
NORTH HORNEL-Elizabeth B. “Betty” Rahmlow, 83, of 10 Marick Park Drive, passed away early Saturday afternoon (June 9, 2012) at McAuley Manor in North Hornell, after a long illness.
Born in Hornell on March 30, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Dolores Kiley Boessneck . On Jan. 24, 1953 she was married at St. Ann’s Church in Hornell to Raymond P. Rahmlow, who survives.
A resident of Hornell for most of her life, Betty was a graduate of Hornell High School, Class of 1947 and attended Elmira College and received her bachelor’s degree from Alfred University; and for 19 years she taught second grade at St. Ann’s School in Hornell.
Betty was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and was a communicant of St. Ann’s Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years. She was also a member of the St. James Mercy Hospital Auxiliary.
The most important thing in Betty’s life was her family.
Her family includes her husband of 59 years, Raymond; her four children, Raymond (Jane) Rahmlow of Honeoye Falls, James (Mary Kay) Rahmlow of Fairport, Christine Rahmlow of Fairport and Michael (Christeen) Rahmlow of Pittsford; her six grandchildren, Katie, Christopher, Greg, Jeff, Jackie and Kevin; her sister, Mary Egger of Greece, NY.
Calling hours are from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell. Friends are invited to meet her family at St. Ann’s Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday . Committal prayers and interment will follow at St. Ann’s Cemetery, Hornell.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in her memory to either St. Ann’s Church of Our Lady of the Valley Parish, 27 Erie Ave., Hornell or to the Hornell Public Library, 64 Genesee St., Hornell, NY 14843. Envelopes for memorial contributions will be available at the funeral home.
