Edna May Shaw

Edna May Shaw (Ball), age 87, died Monday, August 23, 2021, at home in Sugar Hill, Georgia. Born in Port Allegany, Pennsylvania, she was the second daughter of Alden and Vivian Ball. Edna graduated from Hammondsport High School Class of 1950 and resided for years in Hammondsport, New York. She enjoyed baking, sewing, antiquing, fishing and gardening. She received a floriculture degree from Alfred Ag Tech and a landscape design degree from Daytona Beach College. Edna successfully owned and operated Tipton’s Florist (New Smyrna Beach, FL) from 1985 until she sold the business in 2005. She was a long-time member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church (New Smyrna Beach, FL) and St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church (Hammondsport, New York). She volunteered in both parishes and at Sacred Heart Catholic School. Edna was preceded in death by her husbands, Richard Janes (New Smyrna Beach, FL) and Charles Shaw (Hammondsport, NY). She is survived by her sisters, Sandra Fox of Bath, NY and Elizabeth Burke of Daytona Beach, FL, her children, Marty Perez-Lugones of Duluth, GA, Edith Courtemanche (Craig) of Sugar Hill, GA, Ellen Maceko of Hammondsport, NY, and Steve Shaw of Ithaca, NY, her grandchildren Ariana Perez-Lugones of St. Mary’s, GA, Alyssa, Maya and Dario Perez-Lugones of Duluth, GA, Luc and Vivian Roberts of Sugar Hill, GA, Danielle Courtemanche of Apopka, FL, Jessica Courtemanche of Kissimmee, FL, Sebastien Courtemanche of Chelmsford, MA, Emma Maceko of Albany, NY and Steve Shaw Jr. of New York, NY, four great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and extended family. A Funeral Mass in celebration of her life will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, September 9, 2021, at St. Gabriel’s Church, Hammondsport, with the burial following at Glenview Cemetery, Pulteney. The LaMarche Funeral Home, 35 Main St. in Hammondsport is honored to assist Edna’s family with the arrangements.
