Dorothy Parshall

Dorothy Parshall

HORNELL – Dorothy Parshall was born Dec. 24, 1958 in New Haven, CT and was called home with the Lord on May 1, 2025 in Hornell.

Dorothy has a daughter, Carrieann Gilliam; three grandchildren, Kevin Hixson, Tanayzah Gilliam and Shaylynn Parshall. Dorothy has two siblings, Regina Balducci, Edward Parshall and his wife, Louise Parshall, and Berdenette and her husband, Ralph Tarzia and there is Shane Parshall. Dorothy played a big part in other children’s life just like they were her grandchildren. Dorothy also took in four boys and a baby.

Dorothy worked at Shaw’s Food Store in Connecticut. Then when she moved to Hornell, she became a food server at the former St. Ann’s School. Dorothy also volunteered at the Salvation Army. She enjoyed working with the public and Carol, Scott, and everyone else: Mary and Gary Richmond, Megan Harkenrider, Mary and Steve Brewer, Rose Willis, Edith Snyder, and Daisy Snyder. They brought Dorothy home from Rochester to St. James Hospital so she could be closer to everyone. The Snyders, the Willis, and also the Brewers made sure they were there every day. Lita Brown was able to spend time with “Grammy.” There won’t be a day that goes by that we will miss Mom. Dorothy loved her dog and also her cats and her fish tanks that she had in Connecticut. Everyone is going to miss Dorothy badly.

Please donate to the Hornell Area Concern for Youth, 76 East Main St., Hornell NY 14843. Please keep Dorothy’s memory alive since she just loved children.

A Celebration of Life will take place from 5-7 p.m. Monday (June 16, 2025) at the Hornell VFW Post, 245 Canisteo St.

The Bishop-Johnson & DeSanto Funeral Home is honored to assist Dorothy’s family with the arrangements.
