DOROTHY M. SCHECK

AVOCA-Dorothy M. Scheck, 90, formerly of Avoca and a resident of the Taylor Health Center in Bath, died late Saturday evening (Feb. 6, 2010) at Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital.
Born in Rochester on July 11, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Elmer and Amelia Wagner Scheck.
A veteran of World War II, Dorothy served with the U.S. Army from 1943 to her honorable discharge in 1946 and was the recipient of the American Theater Campaign Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, the WAAC Service Medal and the Meritorius Unit Award.
Before residing in Avoca, she was a resident of Rochester where she was employed by Kodak.
Her family includes her two sisters, Merva Leckinger of Avoca and Lucille (Charles) Gursslin of South Carolina; her niece, Donna (Mark) Studley; her three great nieces, Kerrie (Ryan) Peterson, Kammie (John) Towey and Kallie Studley; her great-great-nephew, Alex Peterson; her great-great-niece, Emi Peterson; her three foster brothers, Rob, Rich and Danny Bauer; also her very best friend, Ed (Bonnie) Hammond of Kanona.
To honor her wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral service. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Rochester.
