DOROTHY E. THOMPSON

CANASERAGA/HORNELL-Dorothy E. Thompson, 86, formerly of Hornell, passed away late Tuesday afternoon (Nov. 22, 2011) at her home on River St. in Canaseraga.
Born in Hornell on Oct. 31, 1925, she was a daughter of the late William and Amy Blowers Bartle. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her son, Keith Beardsley; her sister, Virginia Johnson and her four brothers, Billy Bartle, Earl Bartle, Robert Madison and Edward Bartle.
A former resident of Hornell, Dorothy has resided in Canaseraga with her daughter, Judy Patterson, who lovingly cared for her the past eight years.
She had been employed at Marion Rohr’s in Hornell and at the former Bethesda Community Hospital in North Hornell.
Dorothy was a member of the Hornell I.O.O.F.
Her family includes her four children, William (Martha) Bartle of Stephens Mills, Debra (Stephen) Kerr of Hornell, Robert (Heather) Thompson of Hornell and Judy (Glenn) Patterson of Canaseraga; her 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and eight great- great-grandchildren; her sister, Mary Bell of Hornell; also her many nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be an hour of calling from Noon to 1 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 3) at the Living Waters Church, 1737 Southyard Road in Hornell (along East Ave. railroad tracks) where a funeral service will follow in her memory at 1 p.m. Saturday, with her nephew, Pastor John Casterline officiating. A dinner will be served after the service from 2-3 p.m. at the church.
