DOROTHY E. “DOTTIE” MILES

MITCHELLSVILLE-Dorothy E. “Dottie” Miles, 77, passed away peacefully early Friday morning (Dec. 12, 2014) at her home on County Route 13.
Born in the Bronx on Dec. 30, 1936, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary Thomas. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her brother, Warren Thomas.
Dottie was employed in catering and owned and operated Bears Family Restaurant in Bath, the Fillmore Restaurant in Fillmore as well as Bearsden Lodging in Dansville.
Besides being a great cook and baker, who loved to feed everyone, Dottie was also an avid lottery player and had a great love for her pets. Even though she loved to move and decorate houses, she always considered Gloversville her home. Dottie never had any difficulty making friends wherever she was.
Her loving family includes her three children, Scott Thomas of Fillmore, Serena Mari (Lynn) Hagadone of Mitchellsville and F. Dwight (Linda) Miles III of Tampa Bay, Fla.;
her 14 grandchildren and great-grandchildren that she adored; her six grandchildren, Jeremy Hagadone, Wendy Boscoe, Brianne Miles, Jade Marie Thomas, Mary Jo Thomas and Charity Sue Scott; her eight great-grandchildren, Hanna, McKenzie, Seneca, Jacob, Camden, Chase, Brayden and Rorie; her sister-in-law, Doris Thomas; also her nieces, nephews and her special friend, Barre Butts of Mitchellsville.
The Avoca Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Dorothy E. “Dottie” Miles.
Calling hours are from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday at the Mitchellsville United Methodist Church, 8421 County Route 13, where a funeral service will be held in her memory following calling hours at 6 p.m. Tuesday, with Pastor Barre Butts officiating.
