DONALD A. SILSBEE
BATH-Donald A. Silsbee, 87, formerly of Circle Dr., Bath, died Monday evening (June 7, 2010) at the Steuben County Health Care Facility in Bath.
Born in Canisteo on Sept. 28, 1922, he was a son of the late Ray and Cecil Stewart Silsbee. In 1946, he was married in Gainesville, TX to the former Lucille McIntosh, who survives.
A resident of Cameron for most of his life, Don graduated from high school in Addison and was a veteran of World War II and served in the Pacific.
He was employed as the Highway Superintendent and Town Supervisor for the Town of Cameron and as the parts manager of Steuben Supply in Bath. He was also employed part time for the Bath Police Department.
Don was a member and past chief of the Cameron Volunteer Fire Department.
His family includes his wife of 64 years, Lucille; his four children, Dr. Donna Silsbee of Whitesboro, Douglas (Judy) Silsbee of Bath, Keith Silsbee of Amherst, NH and Pam (Jack) Bisikirski of Suwanee, Ga.; his four grandchildren, Tara Silsbee and Nathan Silsbee both of Bath and Scarlett Bisikirski and Benji Bisikirski both of Suwanee, Ga.; his sister, Carol (Craig) Andrews of Warrenton, Va.; also his many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Ray Silsbee, Jr. and his sister, Edythe McCarthy.
Calling hours are from 4-6 p.m. Thursday at the Avoca Funeral Home, 22 N. Main St., Avoca, where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday. Committal services and interment will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Hammondsport.
