DEBORAH L. SALTSMAN

AVOCA-Deborah L. “Debbie” Saltsman, 35, of 9248 County Route 7, passed away suddenly Saturday (Jan. 8, 2011) at Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital in Bath.
Born in Hornell on June 14, 1975, she was a daughter of C. Lonnie and Linda Hogan Barrett, who survive. On July 25, 1998, she was married at St. Pius Church in Cohocton to Daniel Saltsman, who also survives.
A graduate of Avoca Central School, Debbie also attended BOCES for two years and was employed at Bath Dental before she began her employment with the Guthrie Medical Group in Bath as a medical secretary.
She was a member of the Elmira Kennel Club and owned and showed Dobermans
Debbie enjoyed attending dog shows as well as camping, traveling and doing crafts.
Her family includes her husband of 12 years, Dan; her parents, Lonnie and Linda Barrett of Avoca; her sister, Heather (Barry) Wainwright of Avoca; her maternal grandfather, William Hogan of Ocala, Fl., who affectionately called her “Goldilocks”; her maternal grandmother, Florence Hogan of Avoca; her paternal grandparents, Charles and Dorothy Barrett of Avoca; her grandmother, Beverly Saltsman of Avoca; her great-grandmother, Grace Margeson of Avoca; her aunts and uncles, Janet and Bernie Towner of Avoca, who were also her godparents; Phil and Sharon Margeson of Avoca; as well as several other aunts, uncles and cousin; also her close friend, Deb Carter of Avoca; and her two dogs, Denali and Commanchee.
She was predeceased by her great-grandfather, Lee Margeson; her uncle, William J. Hogan III; her aunt, Kim Cecil and her in-laws, Ray and Nancy Saltsman.
Calling hours are from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Avoca Funeral Home, 22 N. Main St., Avoca, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, with Pastor Bill McFeaters officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow at Valley View Cemetery, Avoca.
