HAMMONDSPORT – Charles J. Egresi was born on June 6, 1942, in Bath, NY. At age 79 he passed away peacefully at home on May 13, 2022.
Charlie spent his life as a farmer, carpenter, NYS Code Enforcement Officer and Watershed Inspector, working in Steuben and Yates Counties, and a 40-year Volunteer for Pulteney Fire Department and 16-year member of the Pulteney Ambulance Corps.
Charlie and Verna owned and operated The Hammondsport Car Wash and Keuka Corner in Hammondsport. He lived in Pulteney for many years, then Hammondsport for the last 22-years.
Charlie enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing, he mostly enjoyed fishing for salmon in Pulaski with his sons, grandsons, and friends. During his many years of volunteer work, Charlie was honored with Fireman of the Year after serving as Fire Chief of the Pulteney Fire Department and Captain of the Ambulance Corps.
He is predeceased by his father and mother, George and Anna Egresi and siblings George and Mary.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60-years, Verna Schoeffler Egresi; daughter Deborah Bronzetti-Ford of Bradford; sons Donald (Lori) Egresi, Edward (Tammy) Egresi of Pulteney; grandchildren Ashley (Andrew) Corbitt of Bradford, Chad (Sarah) Egresi of Burk, VA, Garrett (Colleen Borzi) Egresi, of Avoca, Jeffrey (Caitlin) Egresi of Canisteo, Anna (Robert Taylor) Egresi of Bath, David (Shalako Lin) Washburn of Prattsburgh, Devon (Breonna) Egresi of Pulteney; 13 great-grandchildren, with another on the way.
At the family wishes there will be a private graveside service, with immediate burial, at Glenview Cemetery, Pulteney, NY.
