BATH-Carlton Bert Cook, 86, passed away on Saturday (July 22, 2017) at his home.
He was born on October 9, 1930 to Elden and Bernice (Adams) Cook. On March 22, 1952, he married Elmina Jones, who predeceased him in 2015.
From 1951 to his honorable discharge in 1954, he proudly served his country with the U.S. Air Force.
Carlton worked as a custodian and was retired from Steuben County and the Sarasota County School System. Carlton and Elmina lived in Sarasota, Florida for 20 years before returning to Bath.
Besides his parents and wife, he was also predeceased by his sister, Ruth Cook Silsbee and Ruth’s husband, Ward Silsbee; his granddaughter, Michele and great-great grandson, Hayden. Also predeceasing him were Elmina’s siblings and spouses, Bernard (Ruby) Jones, Wendell (Dorothy) Jones and Winifred (Lawrence) Bauter.
He is survived by his daughter, Elaine (Al) LaForge; grandchildren, Melinda Drake (Jeff Hourihan), Jeff (Kelly) Drake, Michelle LaForge and Greg (Cindy) LaForge; great-grandchildren, Samantha, Melissa, Nicholas, Bryce and Jill; great-great grandson, Liam; also, several nieces and nephews.
The Avoca Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Carlton Bert Cook.
Calling hours are 1-3 p.m. Saturday (July 29, 2017) at the Avoca Funeral Home, 22 N. Main St. in Avoca, where a funeral and committal service, with military honors, will be held following calling hours at 3 p.m. Saturday. Interment will be in Bath National Cemetery.
