AUDREY REED SALTSMAN

AVOCA-Audrey Reed Saltsman, 81, passed away Monday evening (Nov. 18, 2013) at the Taylor Health Center in Bath.
Born in Altoona, Pa. on Oct. 6, 1932, she was a daughter of the late William and Laurabell Patterson Reed. On Dec. 22, 1951 she was married to Harry Saltsman, who predeceased her on March 11, 2005 after 54 years of marriage. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her sister, Barbara VanHousen and her two brothers, John and Frank Reed.
A 20 year member of the Avoca Hook and Ladderetts, Audrey was also a past member of the Eastern Star.
She was employed by the former Newberry’s Department Store, the Woodmar Market and the Avoca Central School Cafeteria.
Her loving family includes her daughter, Connie (Clyde) Spears of Avoca; her son, Gary Saltsman of Avoca; her granddaughter, Karyn Spears of Avoca; her four sisters-in-law, Mildred McAllister of North Carolina, Beverly Saltsman of Avoca, Ruth Ostrander of Avoca and Alice (Ronald) Smith of Cape Town, South Africa; her brother-in-law, Steve (Geraldine) Saltsman of Avoca; also several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Avoca Funeral Home, 22 N. Main St., Avoca where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, with Pastor Bill Spencer officiating. Committal services and interment will follow at Valley View Cemetery, Avoca.
