Anthony Eden Allen

HORNELL-Anthony Eden Allen, 65, also affectionately known as “Grizzly” or “The Bear”, formerly of Ft. Myers, Fla., Avoca, N.Y. and Valdosta, Ga., passed away late Wednesday evening (Jan. 29, 2020) at Hornell Gardens, after a long illness.

Born in Polk County, Fla. on June 21, 1954, he was a son of the late Prince and Angeline (Jackson) Allen. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Cindy Alexander and a sister, Gloria Bussey.

A resident of Hornell since Sept. 2019, Anthony was a former resident of Ft. Myers, Fla. where he was employed as a truck driver and a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). Also, while residing in Florida, he was a member and a Deacon at the Bethlehem FGB Church. Before moving to Hornell he resided in Valdosta, Ga. where he was employed as a log truck driver for Haynes Timber and Construction.

Anthony was an avid Hot Rod fan and will also be remembered as a talented artist who loved to drawer.

His loving family includes his daughter, Brenda (John) Brown of Hornell; one son, Nathaniel Davis of Avoca; four brothers, Paul Croney of Rochester, Michael Croney of the Mohawk Reservation in Hogansburg, N.Y., James Green of Dover, Delaware and Richie Robinson of Rochester; also several grandchildren, great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews and great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
