Anna M. Voorhees

HAMMONDSPORT/ELMIRA-Anna M. Voorhees, 88, of Hammondsport, formerly of Elmira, passed away Sunday morning (Nov. 14, 2021) at the Taylor Health Center in Bath.

Born in Reading, PA on Jan. 8, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Caroline (Hoffman) Forrester. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by two daughters, Corrine DuVall and Lois DuVall; one son, James H. Voorhees; a son-in-law, Leonard Hammond and one sister Mayme Adshead.

A resident of Elmira for most of her life, Anna was employed as a waitress at the Hill Top in Elmira and as a dietary supervisor at St. Joseph’s Hospital also in Elmira. After retiring she moved to Hammondsport in 2001 where she co-owned Jake’s Boat Livery on Keuka Lake which was her “Happy Place” for many years.

She is survived by five children, Sheila Hammond, Louise DuVall, Rachael Nichols, Anthony Voorhees and Ernest Matthew (Tracy) Voorhees; seven grandchildren. Amanda (Chad) Josey, Joshua (Kim) Hammond, Nicole Voorhees, AJ (Kaitlin) Voorhees, Mitchell Nichols, Jacob Voorhees and Matthew Voorhees; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard L. (Mary Lou) Forrester; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Monday (Nov. 29, 2021) at the Branchport United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in her memory to the Branchport United Methodist Church, 3383 Guyanoga Road, Branchport, NY 14418.
