ANN M. RIZZON

BRADFORD-Ann M. Rizzon, 56, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening (Feb. 3, 2014) at her home on the Munson Road.
Born in Elmira on May 16, 1958, she was a daughter of the later Albert and Helen Rouse Merriam.
A former resident of Elmira and Hornell, Ann was a graduate of Hornell Senior High School, class of 1976 and also graduated from Corning Community College.
For 34 years she was employed by the Steuben County Government in the IT Department before retiring.
Ann loved NASCAR and especially enjoyed rooting for Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and was also an avid fan of the N.Y. Giants and the N.Y. Yankees. She was an animal lover, especially her cats and horses. Ann enjoyed gardening and liked flowers; in her spare time she would often make jewelry. Some of her other favorite things were, wild birds, anniversary trips to Niagara Falls, occasional trips to the Casino and Saturday nights at the Hayes Auction Barn.
She proudly served her community and was a very active member of the Tyrone United Methodist Church, serving in the Women’s Group and the Mustard Seed Ministries.
A loving wife, mother, sister and friend, she was always eager to lend a helping hand.
Her loving family includes her husband of 32 years, Lance Rizzon, who she married on July 17, 1982; her son, Dominick (Erika) Rizzon; her daughter, Christine (Samuel) Cobos; her sister, Elizabeth Barber of Broken Arrow, Ok.; her five brothers, James Merriam of Germantown, Md., David (Roxanne) Merriam of Madison, Miss., Robert Merriam (Guy Rainy) of Palm Springs, Calif., John (Gail) Merriam of Hammondsport and Joseph (Kathleen) Merriam of Webster; also her nieces and nephews.
The Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc. in Hornell is honored to serve the family of Ann M. Rizzon.
It was Ann’s wish to donate her body to the University of Rochester Anatomical Gift Program at Strong Memorial Hospital.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial and celebration of her life at the Tyrone Fire Hall from 1-4 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 28, 2015) at the Tyrone Fire Hall.
