HORNELL-Amy L. French, 61, of East Main Street, died Sunday (Feb. 27, 2022) at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA.
Born in Hornell on March 11, 1960, she was a daughter of the late Kenneth French and Betty (Hall) French Monaghan. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by one sister, Debbie and her stepfather, Al Monaghan.
Amy attended Hornell High School and the Licensed Practical Nurse program at BOCES and worked as an LPN at several local nursing home.
She is survived by one son, Sean French of Hornell; one sister, Beth Campbell (Paul Cushman) of Hornell; one brother, Larry French (Joanne Carpenter) also of Hornell; as well as several nieces and nephews. She also had several friends who looked out for her, including, Norah Flanagan and Carol Lamont, who were her caregivers.
Amy had several health challenges in the last few years that she met with determination and grace. Her favorite pastimes were checking out different restaurants and she loved to shop. Amy also enjoyed being an honorary member of the Flanagan family and attended several functions. She especially enjoyed being a “guinea pig” for new recipes, she was a taste tester extraordinaire. Amy loved to learn new things and her goal for each day was to live just as much as she could. Tomorrow is never promised, so she lived and loved like each day was her last.
The family would like to thank Dr. Bruce MacKellar and his staff, the St. James Hospital staff, members, past and present, of the Hornell Fire Department, Visiting Nurses staff, and several other health organizations for going above and beyond for so many years.
Amy loved and was loved right back. In the end, that’s all that matters.
To honor her wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral services.
