Marilyn K. Cooper

WALLACE/AVOCA – Marilyn K Cooper, 80, of Wallace (Avoca), passed away Friday, September 12, 2025, at Sayre Hospital after a short illness.

Born on June 27, 1945, to the late Lynn and Edith (Buck) Silsbee of Kanona, NY. She is survived by her husband Richard F. Cooper of 56 years.

Mary grew up in Kanona, graduated from high school in Bath, lived in Hornell for a short period of time and eventually settled in Avoca where she lived a very full life. Mary had a love of dogs, honeybees, horses, photography, gardening, quilting, and car shows, but mostly loved her blended family of Silsbees, and Coopers, far too many to list. She also leaves behind a multitude of friends, old and new.

Mary will be remembered for her love and generosity to those who knew her.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at the Bishop and DeSanto Funeral Home 22 N. Main St., Avoca, from 11:00 am – 1:00pm. Funeral Services will take place following calling hours, with internment at the Valley View cemetery on Jacobs Ladder Rd after the service.

Flowers gratefully declined. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Mary’s memory to the Wilmot Cancer Center in Rochester, NY.

Bishop & DeSanto Funeral Home, Avoca, is honored to assist Mary’s family with the arrangements.
